Biography:

Wesley H. Jones, M.D., F.A.A.N.S., F.A.C.N.S., is a board-certified, dual fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, cerebrovascular and neuro-interventional neurosurgery, neurotrauma, and advanced surgical care. At the Diagnostic Clinic of Longview, he brings extensive training and experience in treating complex neurological and spine conditions to patients throughout East Texas.

Dr. Jones’ interest in medicine began while growing up in the small Texas community of Bellville. His best friend’s father was the town physician, and he saw firsthand the important role a doctor could play in caring for an entire community. That experience shaped both his decision to pursue medicine and the personal approach he continues to bring to patient care.

He earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Jones completed his neurosurgery residency at UTHealth Houston and Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center before completing fellowship training in neuro-interventional surgery at UTHealth McGovern Medical School and complex spine surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

His dual fellowship training gives Dr. Jones a broad scope of expertise across both cranial and spinal neurosurgery. He treats conditions including neck and back disorders, spinal stenosis, complex spinal disease, brain and spine tumors, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, cerebral aneurysms and vascular malformations, stroke, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, and peripheral nerve conditions. He also has extensive experience with minimally invasive and robotic-assisted spine surgery and provides both open surgical and neuroendovascular treatment for cerebrovascular disease when appropriate.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jones has served in multiple neurosurgical leadership and academic roles, including Director of Neurosurgery positions within the Memorial Hermann and HCA Houston Healthcare systems and faculty appointments at UTHealth McGovern Medical School and the University of Houston College of Medicine. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons and as a CSNS delegate and board member. He has also participated in nationally presented research, peer-reviewed publications, and clinical studies involving spinal cord injury and nerve-transfer techniques.

Dr. Jones also serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Joe Niekro Knuckleball Foundation, supporting education, awareness, and research related to brain aneurysms, AVMs, and hemorrhagic stroke.

Despite the complexity of his specialty, Dr. Jones believes good care begins with a personal connection. He considers the trust patients and families place in their physician during difficult and uncertain circumstances one of the greatest responsibilities of practicing medicine. His approach is centered on listening carefully, explaining options clearly, and helping patients make informed decisions about their care.
A lifelong Texan with strong small-town roots, Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with his family, working on his farm, traveling, fly fishing, hunting, and following college football and baseball.

For Dr. Jones, practicing in East Texas provides an opportunity to combine advanced neurosurgical expertise with the kind of personal, community-focused medicine that first inspired him to become a physician.
